11 There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,
and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. –Isaiah 11:1
In 1988 (could be 1989) I was a student at the Institute for Christian Studies in Toronto. At a Christmas chapel, Senior member Calvin Seerveld introduced this song which was his original arrangement. I do not know the original melody, and I have not been able to find any version of this on the internet.
In a time before the internet, the only way to preserve this was to take a songsheet home and make some photocopies. We occasionally sang it in worship, since it was not a difficult piece to learn.
This year I sent PDFs of the original sheet music to my daughters, Corrie, Lindi, Elise, and Laura, and to my grandson Zeke.
This recording was made Christmas eve in our home. My daughters singing and Zeke accompanying on the guitar.
